
If you use a management tool like Tweetdeck or Hootsuite or Cotweet than you can already post simultaneously (and independently) to both your Facebook and Twitter Accounts. But for the casual user, being able to link your Twitter to your Facebook Profile OR a Page may be helpful. There are two ways this link can go: 1) Auto post all Twitter posts (excluding DMs and @replies) to your Facebook Page or Profile; 2) Auto post all Facebook posts, photo uploads, notes, etc to Twitter.

The buzz is out about Facebook’s new SPAM filter feature on Pages, and while its not visible to everyone yet, it does seem to be rolling out quickly. “Facebook is now helping Page admins ensure that the most valuable content posted by users on their Page wall is more visible to anyone viewing the Page. We are now offering automatic content filtering on Page walls that will ensure that posts soliciting spam are removed from public view as well as ensure that posts containing good content remain more visible.” (from Facebook)

It was a rainy, and traffic-delayed start to what would turn out to be a very interesting day in the company of great people. This morning, twelve people, selected from an undisclosed number of applications by the social media team at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, met at the Visitor’s Center for a VIP tour of Goddard’s Environmental & Engineering Test Facilities. The guests (which which reflected a cross section of Twitter users including: photographers, bloggers, videographers, teachers, IT guys, engineers, developers and more) were greeted by the energetic and well-informed Public Affairs Officer, Nina Harris (shown in the picture above and to the left).

On Tuesday the big wigs at Twitter (Biz Stone, Evan Williams, Jason Goldman and Kevin Cheng) held a press conference for select members of the media to unleash a wave of changes coming to the Twitter interface over the next several weeks. Evan Williams, Twitter’s co-founder and chief executive, told the New York Times that he was surprised that so many people use the service — 160 million — given how difficult its Web site is to navigate.

While researching the new updates to Twitter’s third party app authorization process, something interesting caught my eye in the Google search results for “twitter”… Twitter itself came up as number one return, but Lance Arrmstrong’s Twitter account came up as number two- above the wikipedia entry for twitter, news, the twitter search engine, Twitter’s facebook page, reviews, and videos.

There are a LOT of tools for monitoring and tracking in Twitter. Tools that can track terms, occurrences, users, demographics, locale, etc as they happen according to a wide range of parameters. Here, I will only mention those tools that claim to measure SENTIMENT or the “feel” of the user on a topic – automatically. Many are free and some are only available as part of a paid subscription service.
