The newest update in Facebook’s attempt to get you to Like everything on earth and thus connect with each and every thing through their portal which they can then monetize in some way is the ability to Like a comment.
As shown in this screen grab from my Facebook account, my friend Jake “likes” my status update about the new M&Ms with pretzels inside. He not only “likes” it, which he indicated by clicking “Like” under my update, but he commented (by clicking on “Comment” under my update) on it quite enthusiastically. Now lets say YOU were trolling around my Facebook page and came across this interaction and you enjoyed reading Jake’s eager agreement. Now you can show your approval by clicking “Like” under HIS comment to show that you like whatever he had to say in response to whatever I said. (Which I do here in the next screenshot and then proceed to tell him about it… for this blog.)
While this may seem quite silly (and in this particular example it really is), I can see how this will be a nice feature in other settings. In long response chains you may actually have whole side conversations in a list of comments or someone might say something very funny that other people do leave comments about.
All in all, just another way to keep people connecting with each other, which is what its all about. But I think we are all still waiting for the “Dis-Like” button though!
